Paul Diamond was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1985 and specialises in European law and the law of religious liberty. He is one of the leading barristers in this field and has appeared at every level in the national courts (including the House of Lords) and in the European Court of Human Rights. He was barrister to the Keep Sunday Special Campaign and is currently Standing Counsel to the Christian Legal Centre.

Paul has argued a number of ground-breaking cases on religious rights and handles some of the most controversial cases in the national courts; from freedom of religion to issues such as abortion and gendercide. His clients include the former Archbishop of Canterbury (Lord Carey) and the famous Soviet dissident Vladimir Bukovsky.

He has brought important cases to the European Court of Human Rights on religious liberty. He was the barrister in Ms Eweida (in the national court), Ms Chaplin and Mr McFarlane in the famous Eweida & Others v United Kingdom. The famous British Judge Lord Denning has personally endorsed Paul’s academic writings.
